Treatment of diarrhea and food poisoning with ORALYTE.
In a healthy person, 2,000 to 3,000 mg of sodium will enter in the intestine daily.
Almost all of these are absorbed, to maintain a constant level of sodium in the body.
Purpose of treatment with ORALYTE, supply of water and electrolytes lost in the body and preventing complications of dehydration in patients with diarrhea. (According to WHO and UNICEF recommended guidelines)
It is recommended that ORALYTE use be started on the first symptom of diarrhea in patients to prevent dehydration.
One sachet of ORALYTE dissolve in a glass of water (about 200 ml) is poured, the container for 2 to 3 minutes Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Then drink slowly.
In the case of infants and children under 1 year: 1 ORALYTE sachet in the first 4 hours (Dissolved in cooled down boiled water)
For children from 1 to 2 years: 1 to 2 ORALYTE sachet depending on the severity of the illness in the first 4 hours (Dissolved in cooled down boiled water)
For children 2 to 4 years: 1 to 3 ORALYTE sachet depending on the severity of the illness in the first 4 hours
For children aged 5 to 14 years: 2 to 4 ORALYTE sachet depending on the severity of the illness in the first 4 hours
For over 14 years of age: Generally, an adult consumes a maximum of about 1 to 3.5 liters based on thirst.
In both cases, the doctor may change the dose based on the patient’s need.
In the event of a nausea or a weakness caused by diarrhea and disease, it is advisable to eat ORALYTE solution at 10 to 15 ml every 5 to 10 minutes.
